Where Fashion Becomes Material Knowledge.
studio program
The Fashion Archive Studio Program offers undergraduate students from all disciplines hands-on engagement with objects from the collection through active collections management projects. Studio Practitioners meet on Fridays and work directly with objects in support of handling, documentation, and preservation processes. The program serves as an entry point into archival practice, emphasizing material understanding, close observation, and the transformation of objects into accessible cultural records.
Launching in Fall 2026, The Fashion Archive Studio establishes a new academic year-long program designed to create a sustained, structured pathway for undergraduate engagement in collections-based practices. The program reflects a commitment to consistent, hands-on learning within a working archival environment and expands opportunities for students to contribute meaningfully to the care and operation of The Fashion Archive.
The Fashion Archive invites applications for a select cohort of Studio Practitioners for a full academic year appointment with The Fashion Archive Studio. This is a working role in a collections environment where accuracy, care, and consistency are essential. The Studio meets on Fridays from 1:00-4:00 PM throughout the academic year. Participation requires sustained commitment and close attention to detail in all aspects of collections work.
Admission is selective and limited.
No prior experience is required; training is provided.
